WOMEN'S SOCIAL / CRAFT GROUP
The Women's Social Group is a recent addition to the programs that are offered at Singleton Family Support. The Social Group offers a place for women to make new friends and socialize in a supportive relaxed environment. This Group offers a chance to get to know other women in the area and share interests, skills and experiences.
Since its beginning the Social Group has enjoyed many activities including scrapbooking, card making and other crafts such as making lip balms, soaps and bath salts. Guest speakers are also invited to share information of interest. The most recent speaker was the Women's Health Nurse.
Children are also welcome in the group and enjoy the chance to interact and play with other children. The Service provides activities and equipment to engage children.
The Social Group meets each Monday during school terms from 10am -12 noon. For more information please contact us on 6572 4288.

PWAD
Playgroup With A Difference (PWAD) is one of the services that is offered. PWAD is an informal group where parents and children can socialise and interact together through play and craft activities. PWAD is offered on Wednesday & Thursday between 9.30 am – 11.30 am during school terms. PWAD is just that because during the first hour parents are together with their children and during the second hour parents have the opportunity to have an hour of time out for themselves, on our premises.
With the help of childcare workers, parents are able to leave their child/ren for a short time and spend this time getting to know other parents and receive information about topics of interest to them. Activities during the second hour may include – learning a craft; listening to a guest speaker; parenting education: cuppa and chat; sharing & exchanging recipes etc.
Singleton Family Support Scheme strives to provide an annual Bus Trip / outing for all PWAD parents / children to further enhance positive interaction with both groups in a safe alternative environment. Within the group there are some single parents who do not have private transport; others who have partners who work shift work and are left without transport. To address their social isolation and to provide an opportunity to participate in an outing with a group, the Service has found that by going on a bus trip together it is enabling both parents and children of each group to mix and get to know each other better whilst experiencing various exciting venues and activities.
